The Yankees and Mets continued to be two of baseball’s hottest teams as they both came away winners last night. The Mets swept the doubleheader with the Marlins to pull over .500 for the first time since very early in the season and pulled within 2.5 games of the last wild card spot. The Yankees continued to pull away in the A.L. East, beating the Orioles and extending their lead in the division to 9 games over Tampa Bay. They also lead Houston by a half-game for the best record in the American League and home field for the playoffs. Tonight we take a look at FanDuel Sportsbook for the recommended sports bets today. Each day on NY Betting News, we provide a free odds report that always include New York games if being played.
Miami Marlins at New York Mets -1.5
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: NYM -1.5 (-114)
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: NYM -1.5 (-109)
Over their last 12 games, the Mets are 11-1 and are 17-6 since the All-Star Break. The trend should continue tonight against a struggling Marlins team who have lost four in a row. Zack Wheeler (8-6, 4.45) takes the mound for the Mets tonight, winning his only start this year against the Marlins, giving up just two earned runs. The Marlins will send Jordan Yamamoto (4-2, 3.94) to the hill to try and right the ship for the struggling Marlins. The Mets are 9-4 against the Marlins so far this year and 4-1 against them at home. The Mets will keep rolling tonight behind a surging offense and solid pitching of late.
Colorado Rockies @ Houston Astros -1.5
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Hou -1.5 -109
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: Hou -1.5 -108
Zack Greinke (10-4, 2.90) makes his debut for the Astros tonight as he hosts the Rockies and German Marquez (10-5, 4.68). The Astros come in playing some of the best baseball in the Bigs, going 14-3 over the stretch of their last 17 games. The Astros are also 9-1 in their last 10 games at Minute Maid Park. Greinke shut out the Rockies in his last start, striking out nine batters in the seven innings he pitched. The Rockies come in five games under .500 and losers of 4 of their last 6 games. They’ve struggled on the road this year and now go to the American League’s best home team. I’ll take the Astros tonight -1.5 runs to continue their hot stretch.
Kansas City Royals at Boston Red Sox OVER 5.5 runs
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Bos Over 5.5 -134
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: Bos 5.5 -129
Last night, the Red Sox snapped a 7-game losing streak by beating the Royals 7-5. The Red Sox are 4-0 against the Royals this year and have put up over 5.5 runs in each of those four games. After a cold stretch their during the losing streak, Boston’s bats seemed to come back to life last night and should ride that momentum tonight against Jakob Junis (6-10, 5.03) who comes in giving up 10 over his last two starts. Boston will send Andrew Cashner (10-6, 4.44) to the mound to try and help get Boston back in the playoff race. I like the over of 10.5 runs in the game tonight, but even moreso, I will take Boston scoring 6+ runs against a struggling Junis.
