Both the Yankees and Mets continue to play solid baseball. While the Yankees swept the Red Sox over the weekend and maintained a big lead on the Rays in the division, the Mets took two out of three against the Pirates and trail the last wild card spot by just three games. The Yankees head on the road tonight to take on the Orioles while the Mets host a doubleheader with the Marlins. Tonight we take a look at FanDuel Sportsbook odds for the recommended sports bets today. Each day on NY Betting News, we provide a free odds report that always include New York games if being played.
Miami Marlins at New York Mets -1.5 (Game 1)
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: NYM -1.5 (-140)
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: NYM -1.5 (-136)
The Mets will have a chance to cut into the wild card even more today with a doubleheader against the Marlins. The Mets have won 9 out of their last 10 games and have done it with big bats, scoring 24 runs in their weekend series with the Pirates. The Marlins are traveling from Tampa Bay where they were swept over the weekend. Game 1 will see Jake deGrom (6-7, 2.78) face off against Sandy Alcantara (4-10, 4.54). Since the All-Star break, deGrom has been one of MLB’s best pitchers, giving up just two earned runs in four games pitched and striking out 36 batters. The Mets are 7-4 this season against the Marlins with deGrom winning two of those matchups, but this will be their first meeting at Citi Bank Field. Give me the Mets to win by 2 or more runs in the first game of the doubleheader.
Toronto Blue Jays @ Tampa Bay Rays -1.5
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: TB -1.5 -115
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: TB -1.5 -115
Toronto heads south to take on one of the American League’s hotter teams in the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays are winners of six straight behind an offense that has averaged 8 runs per game and have scored 9 and 10 runs respectively in their last two meetings with the Blue Jays. The Rays over/under total is 4.5 runs and the over makes a lot of sense in this game. The Rays send All-Star Charlie Morton (12-3, 2.78) to the mound while the Blue Jays will go with Jacob Waguespack (2-1, 4.80). It’s baseball and anything can happen, but given where these two teams are and how they’re playing, the Rays make too much sense here giving 1.5 runs. Go with the Rays -1.5 and the over on their run total.
Philadelphia Phillies @ Arizona Diamondbacks -107
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Ari -105
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: Ari -107
Something is not right with the Phillies. After a lightning hot start to the season where they had control of the N.L. East, they have cooled off and are now tied for the last wild card spot, just 2.5 games of their opponent tonight, Arizona, who are winners of two straight. Usually I’d say this game is a tossup, but I’m not a fan of teams going cross-country without a rest day, not to mention the Phillies are coming off a series loss at home to the White Sox where they just simply did not look good. The Diamondbacks, meanwhile, won two out of three in these teams’ first series this year and were led behind a strong performance from tonight’s pitcher, Merrill Kelly (7-11, 4.52). The Phillies send Vince Velazquez (3-6, 4.40) to the mound tonight to try and right the ship. I like the Diamondbacks in this spot here for the win.
