The Yankees continued their dominance of the Red Sox this year by sweeping the doubleheader on Saturday and will go for the sweet under the lights tonight at Yankees Stadium. The Mets rallied from behind to take out the Pirates 7-5 and closed within four of the final wild card spot. Let’s get started with the New York Sports betting report for August 4, 2019.
Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees -108
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: NYY -110
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: NYY -108
Sweeping a four-game series in baseball is tough, especially in a rivalry series, so take this pick with a lower confidence than my Yankees pick yesterday and compared to the other two on my card today. But all the numbers and momentum are on the Yankees side here. They are 7-1 at home against the Red Sox this year and have won the last four contests. The Red Sox send David Price (7-4, 3.86) to the mound to try and get the Red Sox out of a seven-game losing streak. Price has struggled of late, giving up 13 earned runs over his last three starts and has watched his E.R.A.,which was close to 3, balloon up to almost 4. The Yankees will send J.A. Happ (8-6, 5.19) to try and really put a major dent in Boston’s hopes of winning the A.L. East. The Yankees currently lead Boston by 13.5 games and can bury the Sox’s division hopes tonight. I’ll go with the Yankees tonight to complete the sweep.
Detroit Tigers @ Texas Rangers -180
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: TEX -176
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: TEX -180
The Rangers look to sweep the Tigers today, which for the Tigers, unfortunately, they’ve heard too often. Pedry Payano (1-0, 3.19) will make his fourth start for the Rangers today while the Tigers will send Jordan Zimmerman (1-8, 7.23) who has had all sorts of problems on the mound. The Rangers are already 5-0 against the Tigers this year and are working hard to try and get back in the wild card race where they have fallen behind the red-hot Rays and Indians. Detroit is in solid control of baseball’s worst record and have the worst run differential in baseball at -205. Go with the Rangers to win the game, and if you want to go with the -1.5 spread, they are +102 on FD which is also a good bargain price.
Kansas City Royals @ Minnesota Twins OVER 5.5 runs
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Min OVER 5.5 (-120)
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: Min OVER 5.5 (-118)
The Twins offense has caught fire this series, putting up 22 runs in the last two games against the Royals. In the last six games, the Twins have put up 11 runs, 11 runs, 4 runs, 7 runs, 2 runs, and 11 runs respectively. Going back even further, the Twins have gone over 5.5 runs in 10 of their last 13 games. Kansas City sends Brad Keller (7-10, 4.10) to the mound to slow down the Twins offense while the Twins will counter with Jake Odorizzi (12-5, 3.73). Keller is a decent pitcher, but not elite enough to slow this offense down. I like the Twins with the spread as well of -1.5, but am going to play their run total. Take the Twins over 5.5 runs.
