MLB Daily Pitch 8/3/19: FanDuel & DraftKings Sportsbook Betting Odds & Analysis

ny betting news mlb daily pitch 5

Last night, the Yankees built an early 4-2 on Boston that lasted the entire game. The Yankees increased their lead over Boston to 11.5 in the AL East and currently lead the Rays by 7.5 games. Sterling Marte and the Pirates put an end to the Mets seven-game winning streak with an 8-4 win in Pittsburgh. The Mets slipped to five games behind the last Wild Card spot held by Washington. Here is the sports betting report for today.

Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees -139 (Game 1)

FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: NYY -132

DraftKings Sportsbook OddsNYY -139

new york yankeesThe Yankees continued their home dominance of the Red Sox this season with a win last night. Today the teams will play a doubleheader starting with a matinee at 1:05. In the opening game, New York will send Domingo German (13-2, 4.06) to the mound against Chris Sale (5-10, 4.26). Sale is 0-3 already vs. the Yankees this year, including getting roughed in his last start on Sunday night at home, a game that started a current five-game slide for the Sox. In Sale’s two career starts at Yankees stadium, he has a 6.55 ERA. German, on the other side of things, is 1-0 vs. Boston this year and was the winner of last Sunday night’s decision in Fenway Park. The Yankees have been dominant at home, sporting a 40-18 record and 5-1 record vs. Boston. I’ll take the Yanks to continue to their streak and build the distance between them and the Sox.

New York Mets -129 @ Pittsburgh Pirates and OVER 9 runs

FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: NYM -124

DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: NYM -129

A big night tonight as Marcus Stroman makes his Mets debut under the lights of PNC Park in Pittsburgh. Stroman hasn’t pitched since July 24, so there’s a good likelihood of there being a little rust on the mound. However, Stroman has had a solid season thus far despite his record, sporting a 2.96 E.R.A. and giving up no more than a run in three of his last five starts. The Pirates send Chris Archer (3-8, 5.58) to the hill who has not delivered on the team’s expectations as of yet. In his last start vs. the Mets, he gave up five earned runs over five innings in their 8-7 loss. Archer has not made it past the sixth inning since May and has seen his E.R.A. stay high all season. I like the Mets tonight to start a new streak, and also think the over is a good side play here. I expect Stroman to have some rust and give up a few runs, but the Mets offense should have success against the struggling Archer.

San Diego Padres +220 @ Los Angeles Dodgers

FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: SD  +230

DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: SD +220

Going out on the limb a bit here, but I like the value on San Diego who just seem to have the Dodgers number for whatever reason. The Padres have won four of their last five against L.A., all those coming at Dodgers Park. For the season, the two teams have split their meetings. Two solid pitchers take the mound tonight, Cal Quantrill (4-2, 3.57) against Walker Buehler (9-2, 3.38). Quantrill comes in pitching as good as anyone in the league, giving up a total of one run in his last three starts combined, including shutouts over the Braves and the Cubs. This will be both Quantrill and Buehler’s first start against the opposing team this year. Given the numbers and for the value they’re at, I’ll put a few bucks on the Padres tonight and hope to get lucky against one of baseball’s best teams.
