A 1-1 day yesterday moved my record to 43-31-1. While the Mets were off, the Yankees hung on to beat the Mariners 5-4 to extend their lead in the AL East. The Mets will begin a huge series tonight against the Cubs as they try to cut into the NL wild card. Every day we provide you with free plays at NY Betting News, analyzing the games and giving you one New York team pick. Here are the baseball bets for today using the most updated odds from FanDuel Sportsbook. and Draftking Sportsbook:
Chicago Cubs at New York Mets -104
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: NYM EVEN
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: NYM -104
Two teams come limping into New York tonight as the Cubs travel to New York to take on the Mets in a critical game in the wild card standings. The Cubs come in after getting swept at home by Washington while the Mets enter after getting swept by the hands of the Braves. Yu Darvish (4-6, 4.43) will try and get the Cubs out of their road funk as he faces off against Marcus Stroman (7-11, 3.18). The Cubs come in with a 25-39 road record and go up against a Mets team who is 37-24 at Citi Field. Despite the Mets brutal series against Atlanta, they still come in with a 21-8 record during the second half of the season. The Cubs still cling on to the last wild card spot in the National League by a game over the Phillies and two games over the Mets. The Cubs struggles on the road are real, and the Mets will right the ship tonight and get back on track. I like the Mets for the win tonight.
Baltimore Orioles at Washington Nationals OVER 5.5 runs
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Was OVER 5.5 runs (-131)/Was -2 (-127)
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: Was OVER 5.5 runs (-134)/Was -2 (-125)
Cross-city rivals begin a three-game series tonight in Washington, D.C. when the Orioles play the Nationals. The Orioles are coming off back-to-back wins at home against the Rays and come in with some momentum; however, not as much momentum as what the Nationals have going for them. The Nats are 12-2 in their last 14 games and are sending Patrick Corbin (10-5, 3.17) to the mound who has given up just one run in his last 14 innings. The Orioles will counter with Aaron Brooks (3-7, 6.21) who has given up 15 runs over his last 14 innings and is 1-3 in his last 4 starts. While it’s not much of a road game, Baltimore has struggled away from Camden Yards and own the American League’s worst road record at 21-42. I’m going two plays here, the Nationals to go over the 5.5 run total and to win by 2+ runs.
Tampa Bay Rays at Houston Astros -1
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Hou -1 (-143)
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: Hou -1 (-148)
A big three-game series starts tonight in Houston as the Rays take on the Astros in what could be a playoff preview in October. The Rays come in losing two straight at the hands of the Orioles and have fallen out of the last wild card spot in the American League after going 5-6 over their last 11 games, all against losing-record teams. They must now face a red hot Astros team who are 7-1 in their last 8 games and are sending ace Justin Verlander (15-5, 2.77) to the mound. The Rays will counter with former Astros pitcher Charlie Morton (13-5, 2.85) who is making his first start in Houston since leaving the team. While the Rays own the AL’s best road record, the Astros own the AL’s best home record. The under is definitely an option here, but it’s a little too low for me to touch at 7.5. I do think runs will be tough to come by, though. The Astros have enough to win by at least one run here particularly with Verlander on the hill. The Astros win by 1+ runs tonight.
