An even Steven day yesterday with a win, a loss, and a push to move my record to 40-29-1 on the season. Both the Yankees and the Mets lost tough ones. The Yankees had their chance in the ninth but couldn’t come through and lost 2-1 to the Dodgers, while the Mets watched the Braves win their seventh in a row and push the Mets all but out of the NL East race, but still within two of the wild card. Every day at NY Betting News., we give you insight on three baseball games, including a New York team, and advise you who to bet. Here are our suggested baseball bets for you on Sunday using the lastest odds from FanDuel Sportsbook. and Draftking Sportsbook.
New York Yankees at Los Angeles Dodgers OVER 6.5 Strikeouts
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Kershaw OVER 6.5 K’s (-108)
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: Kershaw OVER 6.5 K’s (-112)
The Yankees and Dodgers will play the rubber game of a three-game set Sunday night on ESPN at Dodgers Stadium. An impressive pitching matchup highlights the matchup between baseball’s two best teams as Domingo German (16-3, 4.15) faces off against one of the Dodgers’ aces, Clayton Kershaw (13-2, 2.71). I don’t have an opinion on who will win the game as I’ve learned every time I doubt the Yankees, they win, and this is a game where I think the Dodgers have the edge but I’m not going to touch a side. I do like the over on Kershaw’s strikeouts total, however. As impressive as the Yankees offense is, they are prone to striking out, ranking 14th in MLB for total strikeouts. In Kershaw’s last nine starts, he has struck out seven or more hitters in six of those games. The Yankees unfamiliarity with Kershaw will make it tough for them, particularly early on in the game. I’ll take the over for Kershaw on 6.5 strikeouts.
Tampa Bay Rays -1.5 at Baltimore Orioles
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: TB -1.5 (-112)
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: TB -1.5 (-115)
The Rays look to complete a series win Sunday afternoon in Baltimore where they’ve enjoyed a great run of success so this year. The Rays are 6-3 in Camden Yards and have outscored them 53-24 on the road. The Rays own MLB’s best away record at 42-24 and sit eight games back of the Yankees in the AL East and a half-game up on Oakland for the last wild card spot. Each game moving forward for the Rays is critical. Sunday, they send up Diego Castillo (2-6, 3.44) to face off against Dylan Bundy (5-13, 5.03). In Bundy’s last appearance against the Rays, he gave up seven earned runs in just one inning pitched. The Orioles are 2-14 in their last 16 games against teams with a winning record. I’ll go with the Rays for a 2+ run win.
Colorado Rockies at St. Louis Cardinals -1
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: StL -1 (-12)
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: StL -1 (-124)
The Cardinals continued to roll on Saturday, winning their third straight of the series against the Rockies and their ninth win in 10 games at home. They extended their lead over the Cubs in the NL Central and continued to give the Rockies road issues. It was Colorado’s 13th road loss in 15 games. It won’t get any easier for the Rockies today as they send Antonio Senzatela (8-7, 6.29) to the mound who has been dreadful of late, giving up 21 runs in his last 10 innings. Michael Wacha (6-6, 5.22) looks to capitalize on a recent string of solid performances as he goes for the Cardinals on Sunday. Sweeping a team in four games is not easy, but St. Louis is riding too much momentum right now to ignore them. I’ll go with the Cardinals for the sweep by more than a run.
