Ugh, yesterday was rough. An 0-3 Friday still keeps me solidly above .500 for the season, but slips a bit to 39-28. A lot of strange results last night. The Yankees righted the ship by beating up on MLB’s best pitcher and beating the Dodgers while the Mets streak came to an end, losing to the Braves in a pitching duel in 14 innings. We continue to provide top analysis each and every day here at NY Betting News. We give you three free picks, one which includes the Mets or Yankees. Using the latest odds from FanDuel Sportsbook. and Draftking Sportsbook, here are your baseball bets for Saturday:
Atlanta Braves at New York Mets UNDER 9
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: UNDER 9 runs -140
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: UNDER 9 runs-143
Coming off a 14-inning night in New York, the Braves look to separate themselves even more in the NL East as they face off against the Mets for game 2 of a three-game set. The Mets still sit right in the heart of the NL wild card race, just two games back of the Cubs, and have a 21-6 record in the second half of the season. Tonight, Zack Wheeler (9-7, 4.40) takes the mound for the Mets to face off against the Braves Max Fried (14-4, 3.84). Fried has been deadly of late, winning his last five decisions and giving up just five runs in his last four starts. The over/under in the game is set at 9 runs and is compelling here. The Braves last six games have all been 8 runs or under while the Mets last three have all been under the 5 run thresh hold. Coming off a very late night where both offenses struggled to score, I think runs will be at a premium. I’ll go with the under 9 runs tonight and another low scoring affair in New York.
Kansas City Royals at Cleveland Indians -2
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Cle -2 (-124)
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: Cle -2 (-128)
The Indians found their game last night against the Royals after a tough series against the Mets. The Indians come in 8-3 in their last 11 home games and send up Mike Clevinger (8-2, 3.11) who is coming off a 10-strikeout shutout win against the Yankees deadly offense. The Royals will counter with the struggling Glenn Sparkman (3-8, 5.40) who hasn’t won a start in over a month and gave up 8 runs in his last appearance against Cleveland. In their last 14 meetings, the Indians are 11-3 against the Royals. The Indians are 40-26 at home this year while the Royals have been dreadful on the road, going 24-39. I like the Indians in this spot to win by 2+ runs and attempt to cut into Twins small lead in the AL Central.
Colorado Rockies at St. Louis Cardinals -1.5
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: St.L -1.5 (+111)
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: StL -1.5 (+108)
The St. Louis Cardinals offense continued to produce runs last night as they dominated the Rockies in an 8-3 performance to take game two of the series. Things won’t get any easier for the Rockies tonight when they have to go up against Dakota Hudson (12-6, 3.83) who hasn’t given up a run in his last 13 innings. The Cardinals have won five of their last six games and are 8-1 in their last nine home games. The Rockies road woes are real. They are 17 games under .500 away from Coors Field, including losing 12 of their last 14 away games. Chi Chi Gonzalez (0-4, 5.87) will continue to look for his first win of the season as he takes the mound for the Rockies. The Cardinals streaky play of late has given them a small half-game lead in the NL Central over the Cubs. They’ll still be in the lead after Saturday night. Give me the Cardinals -1.5 runs.
