After going 2-1 on Monday, my record improved to 35-19 playing the spread and am 9-3 in my last 12 plays. The good season continues. Both the Mets and Yankees were off yesterday and prepare for huge series’ against American League contenders. The Mets begin a series against the Cleveland Indians who just split their series with the Yankees. Meanwhile, the Oakland Athletics, who just took three out of four against the Astros, host the Yankees. NY Betting News gives you three free picks each and every day which includes one New York team provided they are in action. Here are today’s latest odds and sports bets from Draft Kings Sportsbook and FanDuel Sportsbook.
Cleveland Indians -167 at New York Mets
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Cle -158
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: Cle -167
This is a battle of two of baseball’s best teams during the second-half of play as the Indians and Mets face-off at Citi Field for a three-game set. Over their last 23 games, the Mets are 18-5 while the Indians are 11-6 in their last 17 which includes a series split on the road against the Yankees and a 3-1 series against the AL Central-leading Twins. It seems the stronger the competition, the better the Indians play. I really liked the way the Indians played against the Yankees, outscoring one of baseball’s best home teams in their park, 34-18. The Indians also will send one of their pitchers to the mound tonight, Shane Bieber (12-5, 3.27), who has won four of his last six starts and has struck out 200 batters on the year. The Mets will counter with Steven Matz (7-7, 4.33) who has had an up-and-down year. Despite the Mets torrid stretch, they have cooled off some in recent play, going 3-4 in their last seven games, two of those wins coming against the lowly Royals. I really like Cleveland here for the win. I like their playing coming in and their offensive stretch. They have a ton of confidence after their series against the Yankees and have a favorable pitching match-up tonight. Give me the Indians.
Washington Nationals -1.5 at Pittsburgh Pirates
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: PARLAY Was -1.5 (+105) and Was OVER 4.5 runs
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: PARLAY Was -1.5 (+102) and Was OVER 4.5 runs
The Washington Nationals continue to play a stretch of great baseball and it continued last night as they pounded the Pirates 13-0 on the road to give me one of my victories. Once again, I’m sticking with the Nationals. A favorable pitching match-up sets up for the Nationals as they send Stephen Strasburg (15-5, 3.82) to the mound to face-off against the Pirates lineup and pitcher Chris Archer (3-9, 5.23). Archer is 0-3 in his last five starts and the Pirates have been outscored 22-1 in their last three games and are 3-12 in their last 15. The Nationals, on the other hand, are 7-1 in their last eight games and have scored an incredible 62 runs in their last five games. I will provide a parlay for you here, my first of the year: Take the Nationals -1.5 and their run total of OVER of 4.5 runs.
Philadelphia Phillies at Boston Red Sox
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Rafael Devers OVER 1.5 hits +143
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: Rafael Devers OVER 1.5 hits +140
Another big series starts tonight in Fenway with the Red Sox hosting the Phillies. Both teams are hot in pursuit of the final wild card spot in their prospective leagues, with the Phillies standing two games out and the Red Sox six games out. The Phillies send Aaron Nola (11-3, 3.56) to the mound against a Red Sox pitcher to be named later after Chris Sale was shut down. I don’t really have an opinion on the game, especially without a Red Sox pitcher, but I am fully on board with riding the Rafael Devers hitting train, despite going up against the impressive Nola. Devers leads MLB in total hits over the last week. He is 20 for his last 37 at-bats and has had six multiple hit performances over his last eight games. He is hitting .332 on the season and has 11 RBIs in his last five games. The value is too good to pass up. At +143 on FD, I have to jump on this. As Yankees fans know, Devers is a hitting machine when he’s on, and he is definitely in the zone right now. Give me Devers +1.5 hits.
