The Yankees renew their rivalry with the Red Sox tonight at home, coming off a two-game split against the Diamondbacks. D.J. LeMahieu is likely to return from injury tonight and be in the lineup. The Yankees currently lead the Rays by 7 games and the Red Sox by 10.5. Over in the NL, the red-hot Mets hope to get back to .500 this weekend in Pittsburgh. The Mets are winners of seven in a row and have closed to within 4 games of the last wild card spot. Tonight we take a look at FanDuel Sportsbook odds for the recommended sports bets today.
Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees OVER 10.5
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: NYY -126
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: NYY -129
Baseball’s best rivalry continues tonight when the Red Sox visit Yankees Stadium. Eduardo Rodriguez (13-4, 4.13) takes the hill for Boston and is 7-0 in his last nine starts, one of those coming against the Yankees. New York sends James Paxon (5-6, 4.72) to the mound who is on the other side of the spectrum of late, going 0-3 in his last six. It’s the Yankees and Red Sox, which means the first thing to look at is the over number. The last seven games in this series have gone over 10.5 runs, most of those games going over 15 runs. Both offenses haven’t slowed down much since last weekend’s run-scoring fest of games, so despite Rodriguez coming in on a good stretch, the Yankees bats are too good to be slowed down. They will score their runs, and Boston will likely put some up on Paxon, who gave up 7 to the Sox just last week. I’ll go with the trend and the over here. In the season series, the Yankees are 7-4, but losers of three of the last four to Boston. The Red Sox come in losers of four in a row.
Seattle Mariners @ Houston Astros -1.5
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: HOU -1.5 -141
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: HOU -1.5 -144
The Astros are coming in 11-3 in their last 14 against a stretch of playoff contending teams, and now get to to play the Mariners at their home park. The Mariners do come in playing well over their last eight games, winning most of those games against the dreadful Tigers, but now face an Astros team who are 9-1 against them already this year. The Astros at -1.5 are -141 on FD and -144 on DK and are worth giving up 1.5 runs. Seattle sends Yusei Kikuchi (4-7, 5.21) to the mound to face off against one of Houston’s star pitchers, Wade Miley (9-4, 3.06), who is coming off a 5-inning shutout performance against the Cardinals. The Astros have the AL’s best home record at 38-15 as well as the AL’s biggest run differential at +128. Despite Seattle’s better play of late, the Astros are still the best play giving up 1.5 runs. The Astros are a heavy Money Line favorite of -275 on FD.
Kansas City Royals @ Minnesota Twins -1.5
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Min -1.5 -130
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: Min -1.5 -127
The Twins enter the contest 6-3 against the Royals this year and come home after a 7-game road stand where they went 5-2. The Royals, on the other side of things, enter with the AL’s worst road record and losers of three in a row. The Royals send Glenn Sparkman (3-7, 5.25) to the hill, coming off one of his worst performance of the year where he gave up eight runs and three homers against the Indians. The Twins will go with Martin Perez (8-4, 4.38) who has had an up-and-down season that started in the bullpen and saw him elevated to starter. Just like the Astros game, giving up 1.5 runs and taking the Twins is the best play. All the numbers point to Minnesota winning this game by 2+ runs, especially given their recent success and the records on both sides in the matchup. The Twins are a money line -270 favorite on FD, but go a little more aggressive. Take the Twins -1.5 runs.
