Another good day on Sunday, going 2-1, puts my record up to 32-18 on the season thus far playing the spread. The only team to let me down on Sunday was the Yankees who lost at home to the Indians. The Mets rallied for the second day in a row to beat the Royals and stay within two games of the final wild card spot. Both the Yankees and Mets are both off today. Each day at NY Betting News, we analyze and give you three free picks, usually one being a New York game, although today they are both out of action. We give you today’s sports bets using the latest updated odds from FanDuel Sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook.
Chicago White Sox at Minnesota Twins -2
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Min -2 (+123)
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: Min -2 (+120)
The Chicago White Sox head out to Minnesota to play one of baseball’s best and hottest teams tonight, the Twins. Coming off a four-game sweep of the Rangers, the Twins are winners of six of their last eight games and winners of three of their last four against the White Sox. The Twins send Kyle Gibson (11-5, 4.28) to the hill who is 3-1 since the All-Star break and 2-0 against the White Sox this year with a 1.00 ERA, both complete games. Ian Nova (8-9, 4.51) goes for the White Sox who are coming in losing three of their last four games. Nova has been the White Sox saving grace, pitching two straight shutouts and giving up just two runs in his last five starts. Nova is 1-1 against the Twins this year. I think the Twins at home here are just the best play, even giving up 2 runs. Gibson should be able to continue pitching well and hold Chicago’s bats from catching fire. And we all know what the Twins offense is capable of. I’ll take the Twins -2.
Washington Nationals -132 at Pittsburgh Pirates
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Was -131
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: Was -132
The Washington Nationals enter tonight’s game winners of seven in their last eight games and scoring runs at a torrid rate. In their last four contests, the Nationals have scored 17, 2, 14 and 16 runs respectively. They have scored at least seven runs in six of their last nine games. Tonight, they get to face off against a pitcher they should be able to hit well, Trevor Williams (5-5, 5.25) who will go for the struggling Pirates. The Nationals will counter with Joe Ross (3-3, 5.91) who has given up just one earned run in his last three starts. The Pirates are 3-11 in their last 14 games and are 20 games below .500. To make matters worse, they are 25-33 this season at their home ballpark, the second-worst home record in the National League. The Nationals are looking too sharp lately to go against them. I’ll take the Nationals for the win.
Milwaukee Brewers at St. Louis Cardinals -132
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: STL -130
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: STL -132
The Cardinals will host a big series at home starting tonight against the Milwaukee Brewers with both teams in hot contention for the NL Central and NL Wild Card race. The Cardinals currently stand in a first-place tie with the Cubs, two games ahead of the Brewers. The Cardinals are also winners of seven of their last 10 and five of their last six at home. Dakota Hudson (11-6, 3.82) starts for the Birds who has won five of his last eight decisions and is coming off a shutout win last week against the Royals. The Brewers will counter with Zach Davies (8-5, 3.74) who is coming off the injured list after losing three straight appearances and giving up 19 runs in three games. The Brewers come in limping a bit, losing four of their last six games and giving up 30 runs over the weekend. I like the Cardinals here with the momentum and at their home park.
