Another 2-1 day yesterday highlighted by a +200 bet win thanks to Gio Urshela’s 2+ base hit night. That puts me 27-17 on the season. The Yankees look to continue their dominant play as they host the Indians this afternoon. The Yankees win and Rays loss last night extended the Yankees lead to 10.5 games in the AL East. The Mets lost a tough 4-1 game in Kansas City last night but didn’t lose any ground in the wild card race. Every day here at NY Betting News, we break down one of the New York games and two other games, giving you three free picks. By using the latest odds from FanDuel Sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook, we give you today’s best sports bets.
New York Mets -2 at Kansas City Royals
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: NYM -2 (+106)
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: NYM -2 (+102)
After a tough loss last night to the Royals on the road, the Mets will look to rebound by sending their ace to the hill, Jake deGrom (7-7, 2.68). deGromm has been nothing short of fantastic in recent starts. Since the All-Star break, deGromm is 3-0 in six starts with a 0.82 ERA. He has held the opponent scoreless in three of those starts and has only given up three or more runs in a game once since May. The Royals will send Jakob Junis (8-10, 4.80) to the hill who is 2-2 in his last four starts and has had his fair share of up-and-down starts over the last few months. The Mets have cooled off a bit of late after a red-hot start to the second half, but are still just two games back of the final wild card spot in the National League. With deGrom pitching, you can’t help but like the Mets chances tonight, even on the road. Give me the Mets -2.
Detroit Tigers at Tampa Bay Rays (Yarborough OVER 5.5 Ks)
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Yarborough OVER 5.5 strikeouts -108
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: Yarborough OVER 5.5 strikeouts -112
A week ago, Ryan Yarborough (11-3, 3.56) was one out away from a complete-game shutout when Kevin Cash came out to the mound and took him out of the game to try and secure a 1-0 lead, leaving a frustrated Yarborough to vent to the press after the game. Yarborough is back on the mound in his first start following that controversy and looks to continue his solid pitching. Yarborough traditionally comes in as a relief pitcher of other starters after the first few outs of a game to pitch extended innings, but Cash is beginning to trust him more as his success grows and putting him in a pure starter role. In his longest outing of the year last week, Yarborough struck out eight batters en route to a 1-0 win over Seattle. Today, he gets the Tigers struggling bats to try and get the Rays back on track after two straight losses. The Tigers will send Jordan Zimmerman (1-8, 7.13) to the hill against the Rays bats which have cooled off dramatically the last two games. I’ll go with Yarborough to get OVER 5.5 strikeouts and help the Rays get back on track.
Minnesota Twins -160 at Texas Rangers
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Min -155
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: Min -159
The Minnesota Twins will send their best pitcher, Jose Berrios (10-6, 3.29), to the hill tonight to try and win their third straight of the series in Texas. The Twins have been able to hold off the Cleveland Indians strong play of late by countering them with their own victories. The Rangers have lost eight of their last ten games and will try to stop their slump by matching-up Berrios with Ariel Jurado (6-8, 5.31) who will try and put out of his mind his last start against the Blue Jays where he gave up eight runs over three innings. The Rangers do have the home field in this one, but the Twins have the momentum, the hotter bats, and the better pitcher. The Rangers are 1-4 against the Twins so far this year. Give me the Twins for the win.
