I got back on track with a 2-1 day yesterday, improving my record to 25-16 on the season, 21-11 ATS. The Yankees win streak came to a pounding halt, and I mean pounding. The Indians beat up on the Yankees 19-5 while the Mets hung on to edge the Braves 10-8, bringing the Mets within two of the last wild card spot. We will give you three picks every day here at NY Betting News, one of those being a New York team. Here are today’s sports bets using the latest odds from FanDuel Sportsbook and Draft Kings Sportsbook.
Cleveland Indians at New York Yankees -170
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Gio Urshela -1.5 hits (+205)
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: Gio Urshela -1.5 hits (+200)
The Indians and Yankees will play game two of a four-game set in Yankees stadium tonight. Both teams have enjoyed a hot stretch of baseball with plenty of offense. The Indians have been road warriors, winning 10 of their last 12 away from home and trailing the Twins by just a half-game. The Yankees own MLB’s best record and have won eight of their last nine at Yankees Stadium, the one loss coming to the Indians last night, 19-5. The Indians go with Aaron Civale (1-1, 1.00) to face off against Masahiro Tanaka (8-6, 4.64). I don’t really have an angle or feel on the game, but I do like Gio Urshela to continue to hit at an incredible pace. Urshela is currently going at over/under 1.5 hits and is getting +200 for the over. Urshela has gotten 2+ hits in seven of his last 10 games and is 12 for his last 20 ABs. Despite the Yankees struggles last night, Urshela still got two hits. Civale has been solid in just two starts, but we don’t know a lot about him yet. We do know Urshela is on a tear, and for that value, I’ll jump on it. Urshela and 2+ hits.
Baltimore Orioles at Boston Red Sox OVER 11.5 RUNS
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: OVER 11.5 (-112)
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: OVER 11.5 (-117)
The Red Sox start a three-game series tonight against a struggling Orioles team that has been a pitching disaster as of late. The Orioles have lost 10 of their last 11 games and have given up at least seven runs in 9 of those 11 games. We already know what the Red Sox offense is capable of with the talent in that lineup. To make matters worse for Baltimore, they send Aaron Brooks (2-6, 6.35) to the hill who in his last start gave up nine runs to the Astros in just three innings. In his only appearance against Boston this year, he gave up four runs in 4 1/3 innings. The Red Sox counter with Rick Porcello (10-9, 5.67) who has also had a rough go of things this year on the mound. Porcello has given up at least five runs in five of his last eight starts. The over/under is set pretty high at 11.5, but I’ll stick with the over. There should be lots of runs here.
San Diego Padres at Philaelphia Phillies
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: Phi -123
DraftKings Sportsbook Odds: Phi -129
The Phillies started off the year hot and then went through a rough stretch there in June and July where their season all but fell apart. However, in August, they’ve climbed the ladder and gotten back into the wild card and even the NL East race. After rallying for a great come-from-behind win last night against the Cubs, the Phillies bring all sorts of momentum into tonight’s contest against the Padres who had to travel cross-country after losing a home stand against Tampa Bay. The Phillies are winners of three in a row and are just one game back in the wild card race. They also have one of the better home records in the NL at 37-26. They will send Vince Velasquez (4-7, 4.30) to the hill against Chris Paddack (7-6, 3.26). Paddack had a great start to the year but has struggled in his last two starts, giving up nine runs combined. Not counting the Orioles (sorry Baltimore), San Diego is 3-9 over their last 12 road visits to the East Coast. I’ll take the Phillies for the win here.
