It was a 3-0 night for the 7/5/19 article, as New York won SU in extra innings. The Minnesota team total was passed in the second inning alone, and the Oakland A’s came through with a few runs in the ninth to cover the spread. We move onto the Saturday slate which features a split set of games. To give you some more time, we will focus on the evening games.
Los Angeles Angels @ Houston Astros (-1.5)
FanDuel Sportsbook: -120
DraftKings Sportsbook: -112
Gerrit Cole is on the mound tonight, and hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs in a start since May 22nd. The Astros have been excellent at home, going 31-14. They are also 19-6 against left-handed pitching, and will be facing Andrew Heaney tonight. Heaney has been injured for a good portion of the year, but when healthy has not been good. He has three starts in seven allowing five earned runs. His 5.40 ERA is not a positive sign, and the 5.39 FIP is not backing him up. The Astros are the best team in baseball against left-handed pitching, and will showcase that tonight. Houston sits 4-1 in their last five home against against the Angels. In the last ten they have held this Los Angeles team to just 3.4 runs per game, while scoring 6.8 themselves.
New York Mets Over 4.5 Team Total
FD Sportsbook: -116
DK Sportsbook: -117
The Mets will host the Phillies again, and there is some good value on the team total for the Mets. Jake Arrieta has allowed ten earned runs over his last three starts against the Mets, with a 1.38 WHIP. Overall Arrieta has rarely left starts unscathed, and struggles against left-handed hitters. They have a .306/.386/.535 slashing line against Arrieta this season. His away numbers also jump from allowing a .311 wOBA at home compared to a .350 wOBA on the road. The 13.6% strikeout rate and 2.30 HR/9 to lefties is also a major concern. The Mets implied total sits at five runs, and it is a warm night with a slight breeze out to right field. You will see 4-5 lefties in this lineup tonight against Arrieta, and of course Pete Alonso has been dominating in the middle of the lineup.
Colorado Rockies @ Arizona Diamondbacks
FD Sportsbook: COL +106
DK Sportsbook: COL +106
The Rockies are 8-2 in their last ten games on the road against Arizona, and this is coming off the loss last night. They are small underdogs and we have two of their better arms on the hill. Jon Gray has always been a bit unlucky given the Coors splits, but will step out into a better environment tonight. Robby Ray will have a tough task sitting down some of the right-handed bats that mash left-handed pitching. Colorado is 3-0 in the last three starts against Arizona when Gray is on the mound. The Diamondbacks are 1-2 in that same span with Ray on the mound against Colorado. While the offense tends to trail off for Colorado on the road, they are a top ten team against left-handed pitching.
